This is an example as there are many ways to use these tools.
To start with you will need to add Life stages to your system, Goto Configuration > List Maintenance > Tick Life Stages.

Next, we’re going to add a new Layer, I named mine Ticks with a Group Type of Map Feature.

Under the Layer Ticks I’ve created a Group named Surveillance. This group will be a Geo Type of a Polygon. For these polygons I have set the colors all the same as these are for visual reference only, this is where the Techs have gathered the ticks.

I have also created a Group named Collection. This group will be a Geo Type of a Point. For these points I have set the icons to different icons for visualizing status on the map. This point is where the ticks that have been collected from the surveillance sites will be entered.

I have turned down the opacity on the Tick layer so I don’t get the hover over on the Surveillance polygons.

Create the Tick Surveillance Areas. Right click on the map at the location you want to create these surveillance areas. Again, this is where the Techs have gathered the ticks.

Create a Tick Collection point. Again, this point is where the ticks that have been collected from the surveillance sites will be entered.

Once we have the surveillance areas and a collection point, we can start adding our collections with a right click on the collection point.

Chose the Interval and click Add Collection, choose the Life Stage and the collected. If you want to track that you were there but found no ticks (inspection only) you can set Life Stage and Collected to N/A

After the collections are done then create the pools. Select the Life Stage, Pool Count, and Lab then click Add Pool.

After the Pool has been added you can right click the pool and set it to negative or enter the values for Phag, Burg, and/or Myia when the results are in.

Setting a pool to positive, enter the pos and leave the others blank.

Red shows a positive.

A positive will show the yellow box around the collection site.
